Music Director | Teacher | Co-ordinator

I am passionate about enabling others to experience the expressive power of music. Whilst I am a fully qualified secondary classroom music teacher and have worked in various schools, I have discovered that the most engaging music education work I have been involved in has more often than not happened outside of the classroom. Below are some of the various  projects that I have been involved with throughout my time as a music educator.

Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts (ACPA)

The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts is a Registered Training Organisation providing teaching excellence and innovation in contemporary dance, music, and acting. From 2015 - 2018 I worked as a teacher/trainer for students participating in the Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Cert IV in music and performance. My responsibilities included designing and delivering a tailored curriculum to cater for a diverse range of ages and abilities. I was also responsible for designing assessment and reporting on students' progress.

WOT Opera - Music Director

WOT Opera is a project of Artology, whose goal is youth development and social change through the arts, founded by philanthropist Graeme Wood. I was musical director for operas created by Marrickville High and Sydney Secondary College. I was responsible for facilitating student-directed composition, transcribing their musical ideas, crafting a score to accompany the libretto, creating a musical reference recording for students, teaching and rehearsing the music and accompanying their performance at the Seymore Centre in Sydney. Watch the videos below for more information about this exciting project and the role I played as Musical Director.

Yarabah the Musical - Assistant Music Director

Yarabah The Musical “was Opera Australia’s first venture into major collaborations with indigenous communities.” (Lyndon Terracini Artistic Director Opera Australia). I was involved as assistant musical director and responsible for composing, arranging and performing. In addition to this I worked as a workshop facilitator with indigenous students performing in the show. This included creative development, rhythm workshops and group singing. Below are two documentaries (SBS & ABC) that tell the story of the process and the people involved in this incredible collaboration.
